Profile Jamila - Tasleem "Jamila" Firdausee, spoken word artist, actress, radio host, writer and fashion designer. Studied Theater and Fashion Design at Columbia College in Chicago. Tasleem has been writing since she was a young child. She is currently performing spoken word across the country promoting her soon to be released poetry DVD "MY SOUL SPEAKS". Tasleem host a weekly radio show featuring some of the most talented artist and honorable scholars, Sundays 6-7pm (central) www.radioislam.com, WCEV 1450 AM Chicago. Tasleem has appeared on Black Family Channel's show "Spoken" in Atlanta. She has performed with and shared stages with such artist as the Last Poets, Kindred and the Family Soul, Etan Thomas of the Washington Wizards, Malik Yusef, Jessica Care Moore, and the Rock Steady Crew and interviewed:Imam W.D. Mohammed, Michelle Obama just to name a few. She host shows and conduct workshops across the country. Her works have been published and featured in several newspapers and anthologies.
