Profile Mr. Ameen (Hip Hop) - Before Mr. Ameen was acknowledged by his ummah as a rapper/singer/producer/writer... before he acknowledged Islam, he was known by the name Shady. Much of his recording career was solo, but in the early to mid 90's he became one of the lead singers/rappers of a group in his hometown in upstate NY. Traveling up and down the east coast of the US, they began to gain recognition and popularity being marked as the next sure big thing. "From knocking on doors to sitting at tables" is what Mr. Ameen would say. However, he found a higher calling... Al-Islam. He walked away recognizing that his lyrics were far from the teachings of his religion.Still having the ambition to thrive in the field of entertainment, Ameen still takes the same work ethic and skill and puts them into faith inspiring musical peices. What drives Mr. Ameen is not just the love of his craft but the love of his ummah. Recognizing that the sway of the world can be crippling to individual's iman, he tries to make musical tracks that sound just as professional as the secular artists, but have more meaning and fit the lifestyle of believers yet still fit the mold of classic hip hop and r&b.
