Profile Naem Mirza - My name is Naem Abbas Mirza. I was born in England. My parents settled in England 43 years ago and are originally from Pakistan in the City of Gujarat.
I began musically singing and writing songs on keyboards from the age of 14, later going under the stage name of Azeem. I worked as a solo artist in various genres and later with various bands and local producers. Gaining experience as a session vocalist, I entered the local 'To be the best' music talent search held by Murray records in 1992.I won the heat and went through to the finals.
I worked for six years writing my own material and refining my vocal improvisation and harmonizing skills. I continued working as a lead and backing vocalists with dance and pop producers on various dance house tracks. Eventually I was approached to join a tribute band called Natural Wonder as a lead vocalist of a nine piece band celebrating the music of Stevie Wonder. We played several big shows around with Northwest including Lowry Center in Salford Manchester.
During this period I found myself being drawn to a more modest way of living as suggested in Islam I began to approach each day with thought and consideration. I yearned a more mentally healthy and pious lifestyle. I had the intension of visiting Mecca for Hajj and by the grace of Allah (swt) was invited to join a group that were preparing to go! I accepted whole heartedly. In 2003 i was in the Holy City of Mecca. I performed Umrah and Hajj and filled my heart and mind with as much as i could. On returning the band had split due to the lack of a manager.
Now when I feel inspired I can’t help but praise Allah all mighty. Sharing the message with the tools and talent*Allah (swt) has provided me with my brothers and sisters. Now I have a new insight for naats and nasheeds may Allah (swt) inshallah continue giving me this knowledge and inspiration to write and sing in this path and for Muslims and non Muslims to hear a simple message of Islam delivered to them.
