Profile Professor A.L.I (Hip-Hop)

Profile Professor A.L.I (Hip-Hop) - A.L.I. is a spoken word artist and rapper who also performs as Black Steven; both reflecting duality, a yin and yang, and light and dark sides of the artists persona. A professor, teacher, and social activist by day, A.L.I. brings the same passion he has in the lecture halls and classrooms to the microphone and vocal booth. A.L.I. has been a member of several different rap groups, but met with his greatest conventional success with the Stormshadowz, in his pairing with Young Skitz. His first single 'Black Steven' introduces this duality and with his latest release 'Guantanamo', A.L.I. addresses the controversial topic of political prisoners and indigenous rights in Latin America. 'Forest of Symbols' a single dedicated to the Tamil Diaspora will release on Januray 22, 2011. This will be followed by 'Carbon Cycle Diaries' a full length LP, addressing global issues from the vantage point of both anger (Black Steven) and hope (A.L.I.).
