So, SEN: The Slant Eyed Numinous can best be defined as an incredible lyricist and producer who, through his arrangement of words and syllables, which are laced upon funk-laden beats, makes you nod your head while feeling spiritually free! The music, which SEN has coined “organic hip hop”, is organic in the sense that the tracks that he produces are designed to engage a soulful yet funk-filled vibe that is timeless within its approach. As a true believer that there is a much deeper meaning to this world and our existence; and that our life is a journey to discover why we are here and who we are to become. SEN grew up learning much from priests, studied with shamans, befriended Buddhists, and read anything and everything that spoke to his soul before his conversion to Islam back in 2005. “As a Muslim convert, I have come to realize that there is a universal truth that is inherent to all spiritual teachings. Islam, Christianity, and Judaism all, at their core, embrace the belief in one Supreme Being.” SEN feels that it is much more beneficial to acknowledge and honor the similarities than the differences. “For similarities join us together, while differences only divide us apart. We are interwoven and interrelated with all that exists, be it rocks, water, trees, or chimpanzees, not just as humans but as spiritual beings.” Within music SEN speaks these universal truths and delves into the struggles of this life’s physical domain. By tapping into our consciousness he broadens our senses, so that we may comprehend more of ourselves.
