Profile Shaheed (Hip-Hop) - Ali Shaheed Ibrahim Tawheed fell in love with basketball and hip hop, but really found out about the meaning of life after converting to Islam in high school. Thanks to his mom, who made him write in a daily journal, Shaheed has written poetry since he was a little boy. By the year 2000, Shaheed had branched out and met others who share his conviction. Shaheed was apart of Birmingham, Al legendary hip hop group the “Unseen Ummah”, which has been highly regarded in Birmingham hip hop circles.
For the last few years Shaheed has been studying the Islamic faith traditionally and learing more about his way of life and he’s writing music about it and sharing it with the world. After releasing the “Scholar Warrior” album a few years ago, Shaheed teamed up with Supreme of Hot 107.7 radio to release the Classic album “Health Wealth and Knowledge of Self”. This album has special guest appearances by Akil the Mc from Jurrasic 5 Muhammad Abdul Haqq, Rasul, and Bilal with production by Supreme, March the 5th and Heron Sparks.
According to Shaheed the album deals with "healing the world's spiritual and social ills."The purpose that Shaheed wants to stress in his music is the message that he learned from his teacher Shaykh Sayyid Muhammad bin Yahya Ninowy and that is the love for Allah and his Prophet, The love for Ahlul bait(the prophets household and love for the Sahaba. Shaheed will continue to use Hip Hop and its elements to get that point across and call the people to the truth.
