Sami Yusuf announces his first ever show in Tunisia - Sami Yusuf, dubbed by TIME Magazine “Islam’s Biggest Rock Star”, announces his first ever show in Tunis, Tunisia on 27th of April, 2012 at Salle Omnisports of Radès. “Tunisia is the vanguard of the movement of freedom, dignity and justice that has swept the entire world. The faith, resilience and resolve of Tunisian people has taught the world that change begotten from the womb of suppression cannot be denied,” says the 31-year old composer, musician, singer-song writer and multi-instrumentalist.
Sami released his new album “Wherever You Are” in October 2010. This album is his third and represents a further evolution of his music. Sami, one of the only three musicians to be ever awarded with the Honorary Doctor of Letters award, has coined a new genre, “Spiritique”. This genre, inspired by his faith and life experience, promotes unity, love and social cohesion.
“It is an absolute privilege and an honour to present the dearly loved international star, Sami Yusuf to Tunisian people for such a long-awaited event. Sami Yusuf’s concert will give the fans a unique opportunity to share and experience his music and message that is ever more relevant to today’s Tunisia. It will be the event of the year,” said Mr. Ben Ammar from Avantages.
As a musician with a popular following, Sami sees it as his duty to convey a message of indivisible “love” though music that has the power to initiate a common dialogue between peoples of all faiths and backgrounds, and a message which crosses cultural and national boundaries, unifying people in the name of peace. As Global Ambassador for Silatech, his enriching contribution to promote entrepreneurial skills and open access to capital and markets in the MENA region continues to fortify the growing awareness of the youth’s potential amongst the geriatric ruling elite.
“I intend to pay tribute to the beautiful people of Tunisia, especially the youth, who are the greatest untapped resource in the Middle East and North Africa,” said Sami who has been waiting to perform in Tunisia for the last nine years.
A United Nations Celebrity Partner, Sami Yusuf has launched a campaign called, LiveFeed to feed and help end hunger in the drought-hit Horn of Africa. This widely embraced and immensely successful campaign calls on humanity to unite and to “listen and help” the needy.
